Nicko Nogués

Algorithmic systems are fragmenting identity, culture and social cohesion. I develop the frameworks that help organisations navigate that instability.

Recommendation algorithms are actively reshaping collective identities — accelerating polarisation, reinforcing grievance dynamics and eroding the shared cultural ground on which companies, institutions and democratic societies depend. This is not a future risk. It is an operational reality.

Two decades across creative strategy, organisational transformation and cultural systems built the foundation.

Through IDMAH, I constructed and operated a large-scale masculinity ecosystem now reaching more than 0 people across Latin America and Spain — a high-resolution field laboratory where algorithmic amplification, identity formation, belonging and grievance dynamics can be observed under real platform conditions.

The frameworks that emerge from that field work now help companies, institutions and leadership teams interpret cultural fragmentation and respond to it.

Bridging research, cultural systems and organisational transformation — working where institutions need to think faster than algorithms move.

What I do

Research and Policy

Research
& Policy

Organisations and institutions are navigating cultural environments they no longer fully understand.

Algorithmic amplification has made identity dynamics faster, more volatile and harder to read through conventional strategic tools.

I develop conceptual and operational frameworks that help institutions detect and interpret systemic risks generated by amplification dynamics — translating complex cultural phenomena such as identity formation, grievance narratives and polarisation into lenses that support strategic decision-making.

This work includes CARA (Cohesion and Amplification Risk Assessment), a framework currently being prepared for institutional circulation through a policy brief and an accompanying research paper.

Identity Ecosystems — Field Laboratory

Through IDMAH, I built a large-scale identity ecosystem focused on masculinities across Latin America and Spain.

The community — now reaching more than 0 people — functions as a high-resolution environment for observing how algorithmic systems interact with identity formation, belonging and grievance dynamics under real platform conditions.

These observations provide the empirical foundation for my research on cultural fragmentation and social cohesion — and represent a methodological advantage that no conventional research institution currently holds: a living, operational community generating continuous evidence.

Corporate Strategy & Cultural Transformation

Organisations are increasingly facing cultural instability they do not fully understand.

Polarised employees, fragmented stakeholder groups, identity-driven brand crises — these are symptoms of a deeper cultural shift that communication strategy alone cannot address.

My professional formation began in international advertising, leading integrated teams of up to eighty professionals across Spain, Sweden, the United States and Mexico, building campaigns and transformation programmes for global brands including Nike, Google and Coca-Cola.

That experience trained me to read cultural dynamics quickly and translate them into structural decisions.

Through COMPADRE LAB, I apply that same intelligence to help companies understand and respond to cultural instability — through two leadership workshops that build capacity to interpret and act on cultural dynamics (one focused on external market signals, one on internal organisational cohesion), the M.I.C. (Cultural Intelligence Monitor), a quarterly tracking service launching in October 2026, and structured Cultural Stress Tests for organisations requiring deeper diagnostic work.

More than 0 leaders across 0+ international organisations have engaged in IDMAH’s cultural transformation programmes.

One ecosystem. Four vehicles.

My work operates through a set of interconnected initiatives addressing different dimensions of cultural and institutional transformation.

Each operates at a different scale and for a different audience — but all four share the same underlying logic: understanding how algorithmic systems reshape identity, culture and social cohesion, and what organisations and institutions can do before that reshaping generates crisis.

Writing & Research

Across books, essays and research papers, my writing explores how cultural systems evolve under technological pressure — and how identity, belonging and power reorganise in environments increasingly shaped by algorithmic amplification and artificial intelligence.

Some of this work appears in traditional publishing and media outlets; some takes the form of analytical essays and research notes shared through Substack; and some circulates through policy and institutional research formats.

Together these texts form a continuous inquiry into how cultural dynamics shape the stability of organisations, institutions and democratic societies.

Books

Nicko Nogués is the author of two books exploring masculinity, identity and cultural transformation.

Hackea tu Macho

Hackea tu Macho
Planeta, 2021

An exploration of contemporary masculinity and the cultural narratives shaping male identity in the digital age.

Posmacho Alfa

Posmacho Alfa
Penguin Random House, 2025

A reflection on the transformation of masculinity in the context of technological acceleration, cultural fragmentation and evolving gender relations.

These books emerged from years of operating identity ecosystems through IDMAH and engaging directly with communities navigating the tensions between traditional identity narratives and emerging cultural realities.

Essays & Media

Over the past decade my work has appeared in media outlets and cultural platforms exploring masculinity, technology, cultural change and social cohesion.

These essays translate field observations and research insights into public conversation — connecting cultural analysis with contemporary debates about identity, digital platforms and social transformation.

Selected publications include appearances in media such as:

Many of these texts explore masculinity as a social laboratory for understanding broader cultural dynamics — including the impact of digital platforms on identity formation and polarisation.

Research Notes

Research Notes

More recent analytical work appears as essays and research notes published through Substack.

These texts explore themes including:

Algorithmic amplification and identity formation Digital grievance dynamics Cultural fragmentation and organisational risk Social cohesion in algorithmic environments

Substack functions as an open research notebook where ongoing observations, conceptual explorations and emerging frameworks can be shared and debated.

Policy & Research

Alongside public writing, I develop research frameworks addressing algorithmic amplification and cultural stability.

A policy brief on algorithmic amplification and social cohesion risk is currently in preparation. An accompanying research paper is in advanced development and shared selectively with institutional partners ahead of formal publication.

These materials form part of the CARA Initiative (Cohesion & Amplification Risk Assessment) — a framework designed to help institutions detect and interpret amplification patterns affecting social cohesion and organisational stability.
